Why should you try Copilot on Windows 10?
Copilot is designed to provide AI-powered assistance conveniently, allowing you to seamlessly connect with generative AI on Windows.
You can resize, move, and use Snap Assist with Copilot just as you can with other Windows apps. You can use Alt+Tab to switch focus between Copilot and other open apps. When you reopen Copilot, it opens exactly as you left it, with your previous chat content intact. Copilot also respects your Windows themes including high contrast themes.
Chatting with Copilot
You can ask Copilot a variety of questions ranging from simple to complex. If an individual wants to call family in Cyprus, can quickly check the local time to make sure you’re not waking them up in the middle of the night. Ask Copilot to find flights and accommodations for a mid-winter holiday. While you’re typing in the chat pane, Microsoft Copilot provides autocomplete help to make chatting easier. Simply use Tab to accept the suggested text.
Copilot integrates seamlessly with the clipboard and provides the ability to drag and drop images to provide rich interactions, allowing you to work faster.
Today, we begin rolling out Copilot in Windows (in preview) for Windows 10, version 22H2 to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. Bringing Copilot to Windows 10 allows organizations that manage both Windows 11 and Windows 10 devices to continue considering the rollout of Copilot in Windows and bring this powerful productivity experience to more of their employees.

Try Copilot in Windows today
If you want to try Copilot on a Windows 10, version 22H2 device today, you can do so through the Release Preview Channel in the Windows Insider Program for Business. This will help you understand what to expect and make an informed decision about when and how you roll out Copilot in Windows to your employees.
Copilot availability in Windows 10
Copilot will begin rolling out to devices running Home and unmanaged [3] Pro editions of Windows 10, version 22H2, shortly. We will roll out this experience in stages using controlled feature rollout (CFR) technology over several months.
Additionally, users with eligible non-managed devices running Windows 10, version 22H2 are interested in experiencing Copilot in Windows as soon as possible.
Copilot in Windows 10 will be released in preview in select global markets. We intend to add additional markets over time, which aligns with our release policy for Copilot in Windows 11.
How to use Copilot in Windows 10
To use Copilot in Windows 10 (in preview), employees need to click the Copilot icon on the taskbar to open a chat window to type a query or request. The co-pilot will then respond with relevant information or suggestions that can help employees achieve their desired goals. They can also use voice to interact with Copilot by clicking the microphone icon in the chat window. The experience in Windows 10 is similar to the one released for Windows 11.
In September 2023, we made Copilot in Windows available for Windows 11, version 22H2, and then, in October, for version 23H2. Not all functionality of Copilot for Windows 11 will initially be available for Windows 10. The core experience of discovering and creating content is the same, but employees will not be able to perform actions such as customizing preferences and settings or opening applications using simple commands in this initial release.
How to manage Copilot in Windows 10
If you need to manage Copilot access in Windows 10 for certain groups in your organization, you can do so using an MDM or Group Policy setting. When you remove access to Copilot, people in these groups will no longer be able to use it and the Copilot icon will no longer appear on the taskbar.

What about Windows 11?
We want to make generative AI in Windows widely available so that all organizations and individuals can take advantage of this advancement in productivity and creativity. Many organizations have already begun or completed their migration to Windows 11.
Westpac, one of Australia’s largest financial services institutions, leveraged Windows Autopatch and App Assure to support both IT cost savings and employee accessibility initiatives when moving its 40,000 employees to Windows 11. Enable the Windows 11 experience with Windows 365 in Microsoft Intune or via the web, delivering cloud PCs to Windows 10 devices that are ineligible for the Windows 11 upgrade. Learn more about Windows 365.
Replace ineligible Windows 10 devices with new Windows 11 Pro devices.
The device requires > 4GB of RAM and a display adapter that supports +720p resolution. If we discover that your device may have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we may place a safety hold and not offer Copilot (in preview) in Windows until that issue is resolved.
Devices are considered managed if they are running Pro, Enterprise, or Education versions of Windows, and are managed by MDM or Configuration Manager.
