This trek is almost a 25km long trek and you will climb almost 12,500ft above sea level. Yes this is a quite high altitude so the adventure of this trek is one of the best treks you can do in Himachal Pradesh. This trek will take you almost 4 to 5 days so planning accordingly to reach the base is another thing you should take extra days for.

Like all the places in Uttarakhand which are connected to mythology one way or another Kedarkantha is the same and this place is known to be directly connected to Mahabharat time during this time Lord Shiva came here and was meditating here but he was disturbed by some of the locals then Lord Shiva went to Kedarnath but after some time Lord Shiva Trishul emerged this place to protect the valley.

 

How To Reach Base Of Kedarkantha

Kedarnath trek Base is Sankari base camp and the nearest city which has connectivity to bigger cities is Dehradun so you have to reach Dehradun by different ways of transport according to your choice. Dehradun is well connected to different ways of transport.

 

Reaching Dehradun

There are plenty of ways to reach Dehradun, Dehradun is a well-established city and it is connected all over the b=via different routes of transport like airways, railways, and Roadways you can select either of these three and according to your budget and comfortability. 

 

From Delhi, you can take the bus to Dehradun which will take you 6 to 7 hours to reach Dehradun. You can reach Dehradun via flight. Dehradun has an airport which is the fastest means of transport to reach Dehradun. Overnight trains are available from Delhi and at different stations you can reach Dehradun easily by this way.

 

After reaching Dehradun you can take a ride to Sankri base camp. which is a day drive from Dehradun city you will begin your journey in morning and will reach at the base camp till evening it is a 220 km long route but because of the mountain roads this takes a lot more time than usual you have to cooperate with small roads and curves in roads.

In Shankri you will have different staying options and food options like for staying you will have options like Homestays, Tent/Camp, and there are some hotels too where you can stay and enjoy the life of the mountains. and for eating there are restaurants and small cafes like Tapri and tea stalls.

 

During the trial

During the trek, there are very few options for staying and there are very few Tea stalls on The route of the trek. You have to carry your tent and the food with you along with that you have to take a small gas stove with youtube to cook your meal. Or if you have one option you can rent all the equipment from the Shankri village you will get all this and it is an advisor. If you are a first-timer you should take a local guide from Sankri village they will help you a lot.

You can visit Kedarkantha trek all year round but you have different options like if you love snow winter season is best for you if you love the greenery in mountains the post-monsoon season is for you or if you are a beginner this is your first trek summer is for you as you will get to use to the altitude and the altitude will be your only challenge not like winter the snow and all.
