Things You Should Never Do in Morocco

Visiting Morocco was such a brilliant experience I had ever been through. But along with that, I need to tell something to add up into your knowledge about Morocco. If you are in Morocco for the first time, you may have mishaps or bad experiences because of many factors. Keeping in view all those factors, here are some tips for you, things not to do in Morocco to avoid any major trouble in a strange destination.

Before heading, I would recommend you, fellows, to research well for the destination and then set out. It would benefit your holidays in Morocco and will make it more enjoyable. Being on a destination is to enjoy, not to be stressed anytime.

Things that traveler will not do in Morocco

Here are those things I learned while traveling through Morocco. You follow these things and make your holidays the perfect time in Morocco.

·       Avoid the Magic Carpet Scam

Once inside of any carpet stall or shop, you’ll be flattered by many things and offered with the tea and juices. This all is not for your benefit actually. For the very first time, when I was in Marrakech, I found a guide who lead me to the shop of his known person, I trusted him and went to the shop. The shopkeeper then approaching me in a strange way, then started convincing me to buy something from his shop, after some time my guide and the shopkeeper tried to harass me but I was much smart to escape from there. That was the worst experience I could have in Marrakech.

If you are serious about buying a carpet or something of your choice, research or ask a person in town you think will never lie.

·       Get Used to the Smell of Hash

You should be knowing that in Morocco, people are used to consuming Hashish. Figures are not sure but many publications write  Morocco as the world’s largest supplier of drugs. You will find this when in Chafchaouen. The blue city is very famous for the hundred shades of Blue and the unique sights there, but people consume Hash in a very large ratio.

It is banned, but very popular in the country. So if you are allergic to Hashish or just don’t want it to be near you, beware of this fact that you will find the smell of Hashish at most of the places and you would have to bear it.

  • Explore Fez first

It was my second visit to Morocco and different from the previous one. Firstly I visited Marrakech with my kids and they didn’t enjoy there anyway. I found Marrakech and cities like these to be more famous and must to visit cities but No, Fez is love. Undiscovered places always give me a great fascination. In Fez, you will probably be lost in the small streets of old Medina in Fez, they are made of cobblestone. Medina of Fez is the well preserved old side of the town is, it is a secret place you can say. Go and roam around the city to find the glamorous experiences around.

  • Don’t Take snaps of the locals

Taking the snaps of the beautiful towns, greenery, o beaches, malls, you are allowed and nobody will stop you, but beware, most of the Moroccans don’t want to get photographed of their own. I experienced it when in Chafchaouen, It is somehow a backward destination. A man shouted on me of taking snaps of his house and him also. I had to run off from the place and learned a lesson, not to photograph the

·       Don’t use anything but train, and public transport

If you are here for the luxury package, that’s perfectly your choice, but if you still need to explore the destination, you will have to be with locals. The train is a very nostalgic type of travel. I prefer now to travel on trains and public transport. It can save you money and make you safe along with many people. Buses, locally running within the metropolitan cities and over the cities, will give you the very amazing type of exploration of the city giving you the marvelous sights of Morocco.

·       Don’t get overweight in Morocco

Morocco is a very gastronomical country having a number of traditional dishes it offers full of spices. If you will get addicted to the delicious Tajine, it would give you a lot of fats and of course, it is not very good for your health. Bastille is the other dish which offers you the different tastes in all over the country. My favorite in Morocco was the grilled chicken sandwich and the very famous couscous soup. I preferred the vegetables there but failed. Although I can’t praise the tastes of the dishes made in Morocco. All the dishes have their own specification and importance.

Get to the top of Morocco, but be careful and enjoy the moments. You are there to enjoy, not to get offended and triggered on every single thing. Don’t be a foreigner and show off that you know every norm of the country. So if you are confident, nobody can ruin your best holidays trip to Morocco. Cheers!
